It’s no secret that soccer is the most popular sport in the world with the exception of in America. It’s strange, too, because many children in America play in soccer leagues during their youth but then as they get older it changes to baseball, football, and basketball, and they stop playing and caring about soccer. It’s unfortunate, because soccer is a great sport for many reasons, including:

Soccer is a game of skill – Many sports are all about just getting as strong as possible. For example, in baseball, players want to get stronger and stronger so they can hit more home runs. In soccer, being strong is important, but having skill is more important. Lifting weights isn’t going to make a soccer player better at dribbling the ball or keeping it away from an opposing player.

Non-stop action – In soccer, the action is almost always going on. There’s no pausing after every play like in football or baseball. The only time a soccer game stops is if there’s a penalty. The players and the viewers always need to be paying attention at every moment.

The World Cup – the soccer championship actually involves the entire world, unlike in baseball where the “World Series” only involves North American teams. In soccer, you get to see who is indeed the best in the entire world.

This isn’t to say that baseball and football aren’t exciting sports, just that soccer is also an exciting sport that is often overlooked by Americans.
